Black Love!

I believe that black love is beautiful. Unfortunately, it is something we rarely see in its purest and rawest forms in our media. Instead, we get images of black men and women in conflict with one another, stories about the lack of marriage/committed relationships in our community, an overabundance of images of man hating black women, promiscuous black men, and video sexploitation all over our music stations and popular culture.
We are raised to believe that black love is a thing for t.v. shows like the Cosby's and movies like How Stella Got Her Groove Back, and this only to find that in real life, Stella's groove turned out to be down-low.
So, here we are believing that if it's not a rapper's girlfriend on a reality t.v. show or an athlete's wife, or of course our favorite--the Obama's-- it aint real or it doesn't exist. But, in reality, successful black love stories exist everywhere.
Join the dialogue!  Let's be more critical of the negative images that deteriorate our relationships and talk about everyday issues in all stages of black love--- from singledom to marriage.  Together, we can talk about the things that promote healthy black relationships  and show that black can be synonymous with love.  And that we can make everyday images of black love just as hype and trendy as all the negative ones---so that little girls can dream of being his wife rather than his bust-it baby, baby mama, fuck friend, or gutta bitch.

Here's to black love!
